Healthy Vegan Yum Yum Sauce
Yum Yum sauce is a Japanese sauce that is used on chicken, seafood, salads, vegetables, and rice/vegetable bowls and is also a great dipping sauce. The sauce is commonly made with mayonnaise and sugar, along with other ingredients and spices. This recipe is a healthy version of Yum Yum sauce is made with many nourishing ingredients, without store bought mayonnaise, and is naturally sweetened with a small amount of maple syrup and liquid stevia. This sauce is gluten free.My son really likes Yum Yum sauce and I combined and adapted two recipes to make a healthy version of this sauce and it tastes delicious!
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup raw cashews
- Juice from 1 small lemon (can substitute lime)
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 ½ tsp dijon mustard
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ¾ tsp onion powder
- ¾ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ⅛ tsp pepper
- pinch chipotle spice powder (add more for more spice)
- ⅓ + ¼ cup water
- 1 tsp coconut liquid aminos
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp tomato paste
- 7 drops liquid stevia (optional for a sweeter sauce)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into ball jar or glass salad dressing jar.
